25 Gauge Pool Liner

by Sherry
(Monroe, NC)

There are 20 and 25 gauge liners for above ground pools. What is the best way to go? Would it make a big difference?

Prices are increased about $40 more for the 25 gauge depending on size of pool.

They also have Expandable liners.

We have a 48" pool and are making a hole in a certain area for 5'. Should we get the "Expandable liner"?

Thanks!

Hi Sherry. There are 20 and 25 gauge liners sold online and there are also 20 mil and 25 mil above ground pool liners sold by many pool manufacturers. A 25 gauge liner is about the same thickness as a 20 mil liner. The 25 gauge liner is just fine and would be my choice. A 20 gauge liner is just way to thin in my opinion.

You would need an expandable liner if you digging out any deeper than a few inches. Most uniform depth overlap liners have no problem being stretched into a pool that has been dug out a little. Anything over six inches would be considered a deep end and should have an expandable liner.

These pages might help a little with your above ground pool liner installation.
