Alternative Base For Frame Pool
by Barb
I just bought a metal frame pool and need to build some sort of portable base because I am a renter. The pool is 18' x 18' and 42" deep. I figured I would make a 20' x 20' base.
I thought I would make four 10' x 10' wooden bases out of 2x4's or 2x6's and 3/4" plywood, that I could bracket together, and be able to dismantle to put away in the winter months, along with the pool.
Can I make something like this? Would it be able to hold that much water disbursement? Is there a better way to build it, like cement blocks underneath it? I can't put sand under it to level it off because I rent the place, I do not own it.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Also if it is possible do you have a materials list and instructions? Thanks, Barb
Hi Barb. There is nothing wrong with your idea, it should work just fine. 3/4" plywood sitting on 12" centers will hold just about anything.
You may need to make use of some patio blocks to make the platform completely level. Having a level base is important.
You will also want to put a pad of some sort over the plywood. Outdoor carpeting would work fine, or anything similar.
