Amy drowned

My neighbors had an above ground pool installed a few years ago. Mary was pregnant at the time. They had an oval pool installed half way in the ground. They had planned to put a fence around it in the future. They figured they had a couple of years before their baby was a toddler.

When Amy was two she slipped out the patio door, climbed onto the pool filter and fell into the pool. She was not out of sight long, just long enough to drown.

I will never forget the hours and days after it happened. The ambulance, the police, the news reporters and the endless flow of friends and relatives. And I will never forget all the tears that were cried by all that were close to this family.

The pool is empty now and the house is up for sale. And still no fence.
