Converting Cartridge Filter to Sand Filter

I have an Intex 24'x 52" round ultra frame pool with a 1hp pump/cartridge filter system. I want to use a sand filter instead of the cartridge filter, do I need to buy a sand filter and pump combo or can I use the 1hp pump and not put a cartridge in the canister and hook it in line with the sand filter?



Hi Joey. There shouldn't be any reason why you can't use your existing pump with a new sand tank. It would be best if you could go directly from your pump to the sand tank, and not go through the empty cartridge filter. There shouldn't be any reason to do so.
