Cut Pool Liner

by Diana
(Chicago Illinois)

Someone cut my pool maybe 2 or 3 inches. How can I repair that? It's on the pool wall, not the bottom.

Hi Diana. There are a couple of different ways to repair the liner. You first need to find some Boxer vinyl repair glue. It comes with some clear vinyl patch material but I like using pieces of actual liner if you can find some. Pool dealers usually have liners cut up for just this purpose.

The glue will work under water and the fast way to fix it is to apply the patch underwater and hold it over the area until it dries a little.

The way I would do it is to drain the water to just a little below the cut. I would then remove a couple of top rails and get in behind the liner. I would apply the patch between the liner and the wall. When the water fills back up it forces the liner tight against the patch and it will stay there forever. A second patch can even be added to the inside of the pool for even more protection.
