AGP Direclty On Crusher Dust

Hi, I'm putting in an 18x52 Intex pool. I need to build up by almost 20 inches. From this fantastic site I've learned that crusher dust will do just fine for building up as long as I extend the base 2-3 feet beyond the pool.

One question though, do I just install the pool directly on top of the crusher dust? Or is sand on top necessary?

The crusher dust will be delivered by truck from the quarry. Just not sure if I have to get them to make two trips to also bring in sand.

Thanks, Mark

Hi Mark

I would us sand over the crusher dust. You might get by with just the pad that comes with most of those pools, that just depends on how well packed and smoothed the dust is.

Keep the sand to a minimum, just enough to give the pool some cushion and a barrier between the liner and the crusher material.

Using Patio Pavers Under Intex Pool

I have an Intex 16' ultra frame pool 48" deep. I was wondering if it was ok for me to use patio pavers underneath the upright legs for the pool to keep them from settling in the dirt. Which is what is happening this season.

The ground under the pool is level, will I need to do anything else with the ground when I place the pavers under the legs next year?

Thanks

Hi.

As long as the ground is level and packed solid it should be fine. Be sure the blocks are sunk into the ground so the top side is at ground level.

Setting the pool on solid ground and using blocks under the legs should keep your pool level all summer.

Base for 18' AGP on Compacted 3/4 Minus Gravel

by Tricia
(Salem, Oregon)

Hi there. Trying to figure out the best choice to use under a new Intex 18'x52" Ultra Frame AGP with poles using the wide pads at the base of each pole.My base is 3/4 minus gravel that is now a little loose since it has been a while since I last compacted it down. I want to use sand but was not sure how many inches I would need to ensure the gravel does not reach the liner. Do I need to use a compactor on the sand or would it be fine with just leveling the sand and compacting it with a manual stamper? Would you recommend another base option since I have a base of 3/4 minus gravel?

Thank you.

Hi Tricia

A couple of inches of compacted sand should be just perfect for your installation.

Ground Cloth Question

Hello, we are setting up a Intex 16x9 foot pool in our backyard. My question is does the ground cloth provided go underneath the sand layer or on top of the sand layer?

Hi I use it on top of the sand but I am sure it could go either way. The other soft side pools like Bestway do not provide a ground tarp and we set those directly on the sand.
