Oval Pool On Asphalt

Why can't I install my 15x30 pool on asphalt?
Hi JB. That's a really good question and I can give you a lot of pros and cons. First off, you can install your above ground oval pool on asphalt. You may have a few problems, but there are ways around all of them.
Most oval pools have brace assemblies that require digging trenches and setting blocks and such. This can be done on asphalt, I have even done it on concrete, it just requires cutting trenches to set the braces. Most braces set something similar to the one on this page.

There is, however, one model of above ground pools that can be installed without digging trenches and setting blocks. It is shown on this page.

This pool truly is ideal for setting up on concrete or asphalt.
The next biggest problem you will have, after setting the side braces, will be leveling the pool. Asphalt is not known for being that level, your pool, on the other hand, needs to be. Be sure to use a transit and do whatever it takes to make the pool perfectly level. One method I have use, and it has worked well, is to use roofing shingles as shims. They are ideal for this purpose. They are the perfect width for laying under the bottom track, wide enough to support the rail and the pool cove. With shingles, you can add and delete in small enough increments to take care of any leveling issues.
The other thing I would do is use preformed pool cove.

So, that's about it. Don't let anyone tell you an above ground oval pool cannot be installed on asphalt.
