Propane Heater For Above Ground Pool

by bb
(Seattle WA)

I have an above ground Doughboy pool that holds 20,000 gallons of water. I have a dome over the pool and I want to keep the pool at 82 degrees thru the winter in Seattle Washington. Do you know how much the cost to run my propane heater will be? I am also thinking of getting a solar assist , do you know of any great ones?

Hi BB. I am not sure about the cost of your propane. That will depend on many factors. You do need to be sure to keep as much of the heat in the pool as possible. I would suggest a solar blanket as well as the dome. The blanket may not do much to heat the pool but I bet it would keep a lot of heat from escaping.

I would also invest in solar panels. I'm not sure what the best brands are but I know there are a lot of them on the market. By getting as much solar heat into the pool as possible the propane use may be very affordable.
