sand and patio blocks

by Paul
(Virginia Beach, VA)

Every where on the internet about prepping for above ground pools, I read that I should use masonry sand. Many sites even say I should use patio blocks under each leg. Problem is, my INTEX 16' x 48" pool installation instructions tells me NOT to use either! They don't even want me to remove the sod. What should I do? I want this pool to be level and to last a few years before I need to take it down.

Hi Paul, when I install an Intex pool I use a thin layer of sand over a very level base of dirt. The level is very important. I could not see installing over grass because it would be so hard to level it. Patio blocks are useful as a leveling device. When all the blocks are set at the same height you are pretty sure of having a level pool.
