Why is the Doughboy so much more expensive?

We are looking for a 18' round AG pool. We live in Phoenix. Got a quote on a package that was non-doughboy that included pool, ladder, filter, vac, etc. that was $2500 installed. A Doughboy Desert Spring is DOUBLE. Does this seem right? Is DB really that much better?
We were given a rough est. for the DB of $3500-3600, but that deal is no longer avail.
Just want to know if this seems hinky or if it seems ok.

Hi Joe, The Doughboy pools usually cost more because of the higher quality. If you are sold on Doughboy check the price with several different dealers and compare. In Phoenix B+L might still carry Doughboy, in Mesa A+M does. There are several stores in Tucson, I would get quotes from all of them. The local installers, all old friends of mine, do not care where you buy the pool. You should find out quickly what the price should be and decide from there if Doughboy is really worth it.
