Wide Above Ground Pool Top Rail

I want to make the top rail on my above ground pool extra wide for easy cleaning and vacuuming. Is there any way I can do this?



Hi John. The only way I know of to accomplish what you want is to install a deck that extends over the pool top rails.

Above ground pools with large top rails also have large top caps to support these rails. Just changing the top rail will leave a large portion of the rail unsupported and unstable, not something you would want to walk on.

The norm for pool top rails is either 6" or 8" so finding larger ones that might possibly fit your pool would probably be next to impossible.

The deck on this page Above Ground Pool Resin Deck shows an example of a deck built out over the top rails of an above ground pool. Although this is a prefab resin deck the idea is the same for a wood deck.
