Filter for 24' Pool

What is the cheapest cartridge filter for a 24' round pool that will still work good?

Hi.

Check with In The Swim or possibly your local want ads for used ones.

You should be looking for at least a 3/4 HP system, nothing smaller.

Filter Placement

What is the proper placement of the filter and pump on an above ground pool?

Hi Lucille

It should be near the pool and can be anywhere around it you feel is best. I prefer them out of site.

On an oval pool they should go at either end, never on a side.

Robotic Pool Cleaners

by Micheal
(Dyer, Indiana)

Can I use a in-ground robotic pool cleaner on a above ground pool?

Hi Micheal

I would have to say no you can't. There may be a few that might work but I wouldn't try it. Above Ground Pool cleaners are made to work without damaging the liner.

Saltwater Filters

by Rosemarie
(canada)

I just wanted to know if there are any good saltwater filters for soft sided pools, that aren't from Intex?

Hi Rosemarie

I am not aware of saltwater needing a special filter but I would check with In The Swim and see what's available.

Direction of Pool Water Through Filter

I hope this does not sound confusing but here it goes;

On your above ground pool filter there are two hoses, the inlet from your pool (or actually from your pool to your pump, then the filter ) and the outlet from your filter back to your pool.

Question: What is the direction of water flow through the filter (inside out or outside in)

A) Hoses #1 goes into filter canister to the outside ring of your filter (between the wall of the filter canister and the filter itself.

Dose the pool water go to the outside of the filter and is pushed/sucked through the filter to the inside/middle of your filter then back to your pool

OR

B) Hoses #2 goes to the inside ring of your filter.

Does your pool water go to the inside ring of your filter then is pushed/suck through the filter to the outside of the filter then back to the pool?

Hi.

The easiest way to explain the direction the water flows through a filter is this. Basket connects to Basket. This means the skimmer gets connected to the hair and lint pot on the front of the pump. The water gets sucked out of the pool and then pushed through the filter and back into the pool through the pool return.

Direction of Pool Water Through Filter

Let me see if i can clarify my question;
on the filter housing or canister there are two hose connections. If you look inside you will notice that one of the hoses leads to the inside / middle of the filter and the other leads to the outside of the filter. between the filter and the housing

WHAT IS THE DIRECTION OF WATER FLOW THROUGH THE FILTER

A) from the outside of the filter to the inside

2) from the inside of the filter to the outside

question is; does the pool water flow from outside to inside the filter, or, flow from inside the center of the filter to the outside of the filter?

Hi.The water flows from the outside to the inside of the filter.

Can I Change the Filter Without Losing Water

Can I change the filter without loosing the water in my above ground pool.

Hi.

You could plug the skimmer and return openings or you could take one of the hoses and connect the skimmer to the return.

info needed for intex 13 ft. above ground pool

by: Ron

My pool has model # 603 pump--how do I stop the water flow from within the pool while replacing the filter cartridge? I am unplugging the pump before unscrewing top of filter but water comes gushing out under a lot of pressure and unable to complete.

Hi Ron. You could purchase a couple of shut off valves at your pool store. Install one on your suction hose and one on your return.
