Intex System

This year we went with an Intex system. My wife is having to clean the electrodes every other day, and the pool is cloudy and green.

I’m not sure if, and what, other chemicals we can use? The system says "no effort and maintenance." I am not finding this to be true. We are using a sand filter if that helps at all. As far as following the directions, every thing seems to be correct within the tolerances on the test strips.

Would love some help.

Hi Dennis.

I'm afraid I won't be much help here as I have never used the system you are talking about, nor have I dealt with anyone who has. The reviews I have read were not all that favorable so that might have something to do with your problems.

Salt water systems generate chlorine so if the system is not producing enough adding more to the pool should not hurt anything. You could add granule chlorine to the pool for a while and see if that helps. You could even shock the pool with vinyl shock, which is what I would do first, and see if that doesn't clear the water up.

Another thing I would try is letting the filter run more hours a day. Many times cloudy water is just caused by the filter not running long enough. It's also a good idea to run the pump 24/7 any time you have water clarity problems. You let the filter run until the water is clear again.

I think I have the same system you have. I took a sample of water to my local pool store and I needed more salt and needed to run my filter longer and needed to clean the filter 3 or 4 times a day and after that my pool stayed so clear that the water was reflecting up into the trees. I never had to add anything to it the rest of the summer and my pool gets 100% sunlight where it is located. My neighbors had to go get the same equipment for their pool because the could not believe how clean mine stayed and besides cleaning the filter it was maintenance free. HAPPY SWIMMING
