TUFF POOL

TUFF POOL

I am interested in a above ground pool for my kids. I have seen a pool called the "TUFF POOL" and wondered if you know anything about them or know anyone that has one and what their experience with them is and quality of them.
Thank you for your time and help.

Linda

Hi Linda

I have installed many of them and know people who own them. I have seen just a few problems with them. They tend to dry rot and discolor around the top, above the water line, much quicker than a vinyl pool. It is also harder to get the bottom smooth and wrinkle free, making it more difficult for a cleaner to do its job.

Also, from what I have seen, steel wall pools are a better value for the money. If the price were the same, I would take a steel wall pool over a Tuff pool any day. To pay extra for a Tuff pool is something I will never understand, there are no advantages that I can see.

cool pools
by: Anonymous

I was lucky to get one off Craigslist for a steal of a deal (owner had to move). I am impressed by the quality of the pool. It has a great filtration system and is good for swimming and kids (safety ladder). Plus I have a 8x18 rectangular, so it doesn't take up much space. I would recommend to look for a deal and if you cannot afford a new pool then its a good buy. Very easy to set up and maintain.

Best Pool by Tuff
by: Ty

I have had a Tuff pool for 4 years and never had a bit of problem. No dry rot and a bottom you can get perfectly smooth. Its all in the set up. Mine stays up year round, so when we first put water in it we put in a small amount and kick edges, then fill. We put an inch of sand down as base to make it soft under the bottom. We spend hours upon hours in our pool. No steel wall pool that liner needs replacing every two years can compete.

Tuff Pool
by: Nicole

I'm having a hard time finding reviews on the Tuff pool other than the couple here. Has anyone purchased generic fencing to put on it, or does it require the fencing that Tuff pools sells as it's about triple in price. Our city requires a fence, so trying to save costs. Thanks.

I always find it funny when I read reviews that are written by other pool companies. Yes Tuff Pools are a little more money up front. But are worth every penny.

Quality
by: Mike G

I was fortunate that my sisters kids lost interest in their pool as they got older. Fortunate for us as she gave us the pool as she knew we were looking for one. After looking at numerous pools, I am impressed with the quality of the pool and filtration system. The liner is tough as nails and the filtration is something you normally see an inground pool. The area I placed the pool has a slope and I have had no problems.

Tuff Pools makes a great product and I would recommend them over other brands especially Intex.

Ripped off by Tuff Pools and Spas
by: Sharon

We went to the Howard County pool and spa expo over the weekend looking for an above ground automatic pool cleaner. Tuff pools had one and the salesmen stated he would give us a good deal on it. Come to find out they overcharged us by $70 for it. Great job Tuff pools on your customer loyalty. Lesson learned on this one google something before giving your money to a dishonest company.

Newbie to Tuff Pool
by: Jill

My husband & I also went to Howard Co Fairgrounds for the Tuff Pool show, salesrep said he would sell us the demo off floor for $6008.80 (includes tax), we said no way we can justify that amount on our 1st pool. We went home and got on craigslist and there was the exact pool for sale by private owner $1500 and only used for 3 months.

He sold his as above ground pools not allowed in his community. Needless to say I own the pool and am very happy !

Tuff Pools warranty is useless
by: Shelley

I purchased my Tuff pool 6 years ago. Thought it was great until we woke up to the liner ripping across the top. Had to do a quick draining of the pool. No worries though because there is a "Lifetime warranty" on the liner. . . not so fast . . . I have to mail the entire thing to another country.

Then they may decide that it's really not covered. So not only do I not have a warranty, but I am out the $100 on the shipping. they are stupid!!! Seriously people don't buy the pool. 6 years of swimming was not worth the $4,000 I paid. Not for a second!

They are not an honest company!

View Pool
by: Jill

Another comment by me on my Tuff Pool. I still recommend this pool, but at all means do NOT get the view pool. That is the 12x20 with windows on it.
I love the pool but the windows are starting to leak, and NO my husband did not tighten the screws to tight when installing. He was very careful as it is only plastic. We are stopping the leaks by using this epoxy by Leak Master. The windows are not covered under warranty and are $300 per set of 4.

Tuff Pools - Great!
by: Stella

If you've done your research or experienced one, you know the great quality, fun, flexibility and easy maintenance of these pools. We enjoyed our 17' X 32' for only 3 summers, and may need to sell it soon for well below the price of a new one.

warranty
by: Anonymous

Fair warning the warrenty does not transfer. I bought my tuff pool off craigslist and called to see all the warrenty Included and was told sorry the warrenty does not transfer ownership. The liner is very hard to smooth out and even putting wood under the legs they are still sinking in the ground making for some very lumpy sides. On the other hand we love our pool and the filter is awesome so good it has to be cleaned a lot.

warranty on Tuff is BS
by: rings4me

The lifetime warranty on a Tuff Pool is total BS. If there is any fading on the liner (and EVERY liner will fade if any chlorine is used) they VOID the warranty saying improper chemical use.
I have been trying to score a used any kind pool, and under many google searches I do see Tuff pools with WAY more fading then ours ever had. PLUS they make you ship it back to them so they can tell you to pound sand. So even more monies lost.
Life time warranty AKA.... It died, that was it's lifetime. BEWARE

DONT BUY
by: Kristy

I have also had warranty issue, if I want a new liner because my liner is fading and cracked, they stated that I will have to pay for a new one because of "improper chemical use" do not believe them when they state life time warranty. I live in the desert and it gets over 100 degrees over the summer come on people. I will also have to pay $1000 for a new liner when I've already spent $6,000 on this pool from the start, what a load of crap I thought by spending the $6,000 on their "lifetime" warranty I would be safe, HA!

Frame
by: Anonymous

Our pool is pretty level. We framed the ground and filled with sand and compacted it down. Now the top frame on all four sides are starting to be bowed out. Also, at the bottom frame the legs are starting to sink unevenly. Does this sound okay or should we drain the pool to fix the problem. Just want the pool to be safe. It is a Tuff pool.

Hi

It sounds like the sand is settling, that happens when you set a pool on a sand base. You could try setting blocks under all the posts, that should help.

replacement poles
by: Anonymous

We have had our Tuff Pool for 7 years and have had no trouble with it. I have been around above and below ground pools my whole life and have become well aware of the fact that its all in the prep. If you don't spend a few extra dollars or minutes on the prep, its going to show eventually.
That being said, this many years later I am in need of replacement poles. I didn't think they were supposed to rust, but for some reason 2 of mine have rusted where they fit together and I cant find anywhere that is still in business that carries them.

If anyone knows how to get in touch with a manufacturer or a company that is still selling them please let me know!

Thanks! Cindy

Replacement Poles
by: unsatisfied customer Melissa

We have only had our Tuff pool for 3 years. It states lifetime warranty on liner and 20 year on frame. Our liner is fine, easy install, but the frame has broke and is rusted. I have been trying to get a hold of the warranty people which it states is the manufacturer and IAN said that he order parts and not sure if he had enough to send us. It's been a month and still nothing has been done ITS BS... so beware. I found a store that still is selling the pools and it still states 20 year warranty. Buyer Beware its a rip off, have spent nearly $7000 on 13x25 and only was used for 3 years...

DON'T BUY A TUFF POOL
by: Anonymous

DON'T EVER BUY A TUFF POOL....In 2006 we bought a Tuff Pool, with a lifetime warranty. We now have a LEAKING pool, which has gotten to the point where it loses more water than we put in. And, guess what? Tuff Pool is no longer in the US. And, their distributer will NOT honor the warranty. They say that the reason the pool leaks is due to the use of chlorine. They say that the chlorine has overbleached the liner causing leaks. Okay, so how do you have a pool and not use chlorine? No one ever told us not to. And, over the course of 8 to 9 years, anything sitting in the sun would become bleached. So, I guess it's our loss and so much for a lifetime warranty. AGAIN I SAY, DO NOT BUY A TUFF POOL.

TUFF POOL DOES NOT STAND BY THEIR WORD!
by: Anonymous

Dont BUY A TUFF POOL! We have leaks seeping through all around the outside of the pool.

I called the Distributor The first time I was told to send our paid Invoice in.
Then I was told a couple weeks later to send in pictures.

Then when Ian would finally email me back, after I would say what is the status of our pool.. I was then told to send in pictures of the inside of the liner. Then a couple weeks more I was then told, They no longer carry or distribute these pools, that If I wanted anything done, I would have to send an email to a guy in Italy.

I have only had this pool for 3 years. Even when we bought it, we were told it is guaranteed for life that is why it is called a Tuff Pool.

Our next step is going to the news media. Please let me know if anyone else is interested in going to the news media also.

I've had a 13"x25" Tuff Pool for about 6 years and the only problem I've had is that the poles became rusted. I am not even going to bother with the warranty because it sucks. I only want to know were they sell these replacement poles. My family does'nt need a poolless summer. Help please. Good pool, bad warranty. Its a shame.

Rip Off!!!
by: Amy

My LIFE TIME warranty Tuff Pool liner now has holes in it and of course when I called the distributor who sold it to me, I was told Tuff Pools are no longer is in business in the United States. So now I have this pool motor and frame and I have no way to replace the liner so now it has all been reduced to a very expensive pile of TRASH! There is no excuse for the way Tuff Pools has treated their customers. They promised me the sun and the moon when giving me the sales pitch, and I held up my end of the bargain when I paid what they asked for their product. All I want is the pool I paid for for a reasonable amount of time. I Don't think 6 years is long enough to be considered a life time, am I being unreasonable? If anyone can tell me where I can find a 9 X 21 liner please call me (661) 945-2302

Happy owner
by: Sharon

I have had my Tuff Pool for 10 years! We've replaced the motor once in all this time (knocking on wood here). Otherwise it has been a fantastic investment. Once my husband accidentally slid the lawn mower into the side and the muffler burned through the liner. One call to the company and we were sent a huge patch kit - it is still holding! My frame is beginning to show wear but after 10 years, what doesn't?

Had pool less than 5 years and poles began to rust to the point of breaking. Called and sent pictures to have them replaced and was told would have to purchase a new set.

Changed warranty
by: Anonymous

I bought mine about 7 years ago when it was a lifetime warranty but now they say 20 year warranty. Can a company do that? A friend just had his liner split and it dumped 5000 gallons of water in his backyard all at once and ruined it and was very close to flooding the house. Mine is showing signs along the top of sun scorching and I need it replaced but given what I have read and how they DO NOT honor their warranty, I am just going to scrap it. DO BOT BUY TUFF POOLS ANYMORE. Sure it has lasted a while but without a company to support the product it is not worth it.

Tuff Pools
by: Marcus55

I had a Tuff pool for 11 years with zero problems. ZERO. I sold the house last year and the new owners are still using that pool. Steel walled pools have much thinner liners and the steel wall rusts out.

Lifetime warranty is a joke. DO NOT BUY
by: Rings4me

We had ours for 8 years. Top edge did show "rot" was crispy. The entire edge split one day dumping a 1/3 of the pool. We were told after sending pics to Mail in the liner. Sent to AZ cost $80. Was told the light spots on the bottom from Chlorine proved bad chemical use. NO NEW LINER FOR US! sound familiar??

This was in 2013. then in 2014 I called AZ to get a liner price quote and was told they no longer sell them. I was told someone bought Tuff pools and look for them to come back. SO... in 2017 I called as was quoted a liner price TWICE what the old 2014 quote was.
REALLY sheety;-(

So we have a 15 x 28 HOLE in our backyard with decking as we had ours half in ground with 3/4 deck surround. now waiting for enough $$ to get an inground. TUFF pools warranty is BS and New owner was a rude sheet-head. so I have it off my chest now

Great Pool
by: Darla in South Texas

I've had my Tuff Pool since 2008. We took it down 1 time to relevel it. I have never had an issue with it, summer or winter. Texas has really HOT and humid weather. I use a salt system. I am just now, 11 summers later finding the top rails near the legs rusting out. The pool itself is still in excellent condition. I'm sorry Tuff Pools went out of business.
